ECG in Primary Care by Dr. Chong Wei Peng

On 16th November 2019, MAA Medicare Cardiac Diagnostic Centre hosted a CME accredited with 2 CPD points for the doctors attending the talk.

Delivered by one of the cardiac centre’s visiting cardiologists, Dr. Chong Wei Peng, this CME discussed ECGs usually encountered by primary care doctors, tackling cases related to the various types of normal and abnormal heart rhythms, heart blocks, abnormal changes related to heart ischemia or infarct, changes related to enlarged heart muscle, as well as normal variants which may be misinterpreted as abnormal ECGs.

Burpees Your Heart

In conjunction of World Heart Day on September, fitness enthusiast, personal trainer and also gym owner, Alvin Netto, has successfully set another record in the Malaysia Book of Records by completing 2727 burpees in 8 hours.

MAA Medicare also has successful hit the target to raise funds for 27 needy cardiac patients with a collection of RM28,888.

Team From Gleneagles Hospital visit Cardiac Centre

On 17th June 2019, a team from Gleneagles Hospital had visit our Cardiac centre.

Our Deputy Chairman, Dato' Dr. Ghandhiraj Somasundram has meeting with the team and they has been brought to see all the facilities in the Centre.

'Stay Calm, It's Your Heart' for International Women's Day 2019

A calm heart for a calm mind. MAA Medicare Heart Charity Fund presented a 'Stay Clam, It's Your Heart' talk in conjunction with International Women’s Day 2019. A relaxing afternoon especially for the ladies, the goal is to raise awareness and educate the public on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle for the well-being of their hearts. It was spearheaded with a talk by Dr Dewi Ramasamy, cardiologist at Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur and consultant cardiologist at the MAA Medicare Cardiac Diagnostic and Treatment Centre,a heart healthy diet by a senior dietitian and an invigorating yoga session.

Dance Your Heart Out - Sweat2Smiles 2017

On May 13, 2017, the MAA Medicare Charitable Foundation had organized Dance Your Heart Out - Sweat2Smiles 2017 with the cooperation of the Jazzercise Malaysia.

This event which was held at Tropicana Golf and Country Resort, was to raise funds for the first Charitable Cardiac Diagnostic and Treatment Centre.

Official Launch of C.A.T. MAA Medicare

The launching ceremony was officiated by Penang Chief Minister, Y.A.B. Tuan Lim Guang Eng.


The State Government has allocated RM1.1 million for the kidney patients who receive regular treatment at the Dialysis Center C.A.T. MAA Medicare Jalan Baru near here, for three years until 2018.


C.A.T. MAA Medicare Dialysis Center received a total of RM1,121,160 allocation of subsidies from the Penang State Government.

World Kidney Day is an annual global campaign to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys. Diabetes and high blood pressure are the 2 known leading causes of kidney failure (ESRD), accounting for more than 60% of new cases of dialysis patients in Malaysia. MAA Medicare's Dress Down Day is an awareness activity to remind and inform everyone the importance of identifying and treating kidney diseases.

Jazzercise Sweat2Smiles 2016

Jazzercise Malaysia was organized a charity Dance Fitness event on 9th April 2016 featuring Emily Tyson from Jazzercise USA, in aid of The Foundation
Our goal is to dance and SWEAT our way to a healthier lifestyle while raising funds and awareness.
All funds from Sweat2Smiles 2016 will go towards the purchase of dialysis and medical equipment as well as support for MAA Medicare's patients.

MoU With The Penang State Government

The State Government of Penang and the MAA Medicare Charitable Foundation (The Foundation) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday (25 May), to provide dialysis subsidy at RM30 each for patients from poor families at the MAA Medicare Charity Dialysis Center, Butterworth.

In addition, the State Government of Penang will also replace 8 dialysis machines, over a two year period and will subsidize the fees for nephrologists and cost for the clinical waste management.
